Individual therapy
What therapy would look like
As a Clinical Psychologist I have received training in a range of different types of therapy in order to develop individual treatment plans with clients based on their own particular situation and experiences. The initial session (usually called an assessment) aims to help us understand what you are looking for help with, how you would like your life to be different, and to explore what factors have contributed to your current struggles. Depending on the individual, it may take more than one session to cover all of these areas and gain a comprehensive understanding.
Once we have developed this understanding together, I will then develop a treatment plan with you. This plan might involve one specific therapy or could include aspects of different therapies, resulting in a comprehensive plan.
One of the main approaches I draw on is Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), but please be aware that I will make use of other models in which I am trained, such as Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy, if it seems that they would be helpful in moving forward.
